Borough Market
|London’s popular wholesale and retail food market has been located on or near it’s present site in Southwark for one thousand years. Bustling Borough Market is normally frequented by thousands of tourists each week but is also very popular with locals and celebrity chefs, sourcing fresh produce for their London restaurants.
Street Food
The market is predominantly undercover, stretching from Stoney Street eastwards over to the churchyard of Southwark Cathedral and historic Borough High Street. London has many great market experiences but Borough Market has a unique vibrancy. In an open area visitors can sit down to enjoy the varied Street food on offer whilst deciding which tasty treats they will be taking home with them. A personal favourite is the fabulous Sausage Rolls served up by The Ginger Pig from their outlet opposite The Market Porter pub.
Harry Potter
The heart of the market is located under a triangle of Railway viaducts and the sound of trains rumbling overhead has a quirky London feel to it. Unsurprisingly, Borough Market is a popular location for t.v and film crews, some scenes for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban were filmed in this atmospheric part of London.
Getting there: London Bridge Station ( National Rail, Jubilee Line, Northern Line ) is adjacent to Borough Market. Other relevant information can be found at boroughmarket.org.uk
